A conjunction is a word used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause.<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\">And: adds one thing to another or used for similar ideas.<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Jane came to my party. Samara came to my party.<\/li>\n<li>Jane <u>and<\/u> Samara came to my party.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\">But: is used to show contrast. So, if we talk about two things, people or ideas that are contrasting each other, we use \u2018but\u2019.<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Mrs. Smith is strict.\u00a0 Mrs. Smith is kind.<\/li>\n<li>Mrs. Smith is strict <u>but <\/u>kind. They can be used interchangeably.<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>I sat down <u>because\/since\/as <\/u>I was tired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\">After\/before\/when: are all time related conjunctions.<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019ll email you <u>after <\/u>I receive the update. (after shows the sequence where one action id followed by the other)<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ll email you <u>before<\/u> I receive the update.
