Interview With Divya; Author Of ‘All you need is just a second’

About Divya: Soon after quitting the job as an unsatisfying reporter from a reputed media organization, I have decided to create a platform of my own to express my thoughts. After continuously being rejected for trying to work on lives of people and not giving me a platform to perform things that needs immediate attention, I felt being a reporter, and trying to change things is impossible. I have decided to quit that post and create a platform of my own, which will help express my thoughts on social issues, where it allows people to think before doing anything and acquire inspiration to live for their Passion.

“All you need is just a Second” is my debut novel, where I had shared the real emotions I encountered in various situations, which will help you to perceive ‘emotions and reactions’ from a different perceptive, when thought carefully before acting.

    Chit Chat Session

Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
I am a very passionate and empathetic person. I always put myself in other’s shoes and try understanding them. Most of the times, I prefer solving things by communicating, that just assuming. Coming to my education, I completed my masters in journalism and worked as a reporter in both print and electronic media.  I was an athlete in my school and almost represented my school in every sports event held. I love pot painting and mostly I prefer making crafts to decorate my home.

You were a successful reporter. What made you quit your job and switch to writing?
My reason is very simple. I believe change happens when we take the first step. But in my case, I took the step, but the medium I choose to take the step was a complete fault. My organisation is too TRP oriented to focus on any good news and hence I had to resign because my conscience always asked me to choose what’s benefiting the ones in need.

What have you written? Give us an insight into your book.
The title of my debut book is “All you need is just a second”. It’s a non-fiction, self -help book. The book mainly focuses on one’s emotional reaction to any situation and how a single second of thinking before reacting in any situation can make a huge difference. The main reason behind taking my own experiences and writing a book is because I wanted people to take my experience as an example to understand how not to react in a few situations. it’s more like, telling people a story with taking my experience as an example.

Could you describe your journey as a writer?
Until I decided to finally write I wasn’t sure if what I was trying to write is correct. But you just need a single second to start anything you believe is best. And hence I began writing and finished the entire book in less than 2 months.  I had hard times when I feared I might sound immature while writing the book, but with my husband’s, my best friend and family support, I could complete it successfully.

What is the most fulfilling part of writing? And what is the most challenging?
The most fulfilling part is to first hold your book in your hand. And most challenging I feel is trying to receive every feedback and still not lose hope.

    Self publishing or traditional publishing?
Depends on the situation but I mostly prefer self-publishing.

    Which writers Inspires you
The first ever writer I knew was Yandamuri Veerendranath. His writings were interesting and mind changing. I like Durjoy Datta’s and Preeti Shenoy’s writings too.  Coming to the inspiring part, I’m inspired by myself.  I love the way I write and I find great challenge in trying to write, to inculcate thinking.

What is the next book that you have planned?
Next book surely is a fictional one. I am sure this one too excites you.
