Let’s put some questions to her, so that we can know much about her.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I’m Durriya Kapasi , 28 year old, born and brought up in the East African country, Tanzania. I’m now settled with my husband in Udaipur, India. I’m a creative writing teacher, a cancer survivor that turned me into a motivational speaker, and I also contribute as a Wattpad Community Ambassador.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I began writing my first book with the pen name Durriya Zaheer on an online storytelling community in 2014. The first story received reasonable appraisal and received nearly million reads online, that’s when I realized my passion for writing. Gradually in succession I authored two more books which received a great amount of acclamation on social media. From which the third is now published as paperback by half baked beans, ‘Once Upon A Genie.’

    Were you good at English?

English is my language; I am born and brought up in English speaking culture.

How long does it take you to write a book?

It usually takes me 7-10 months to complete a book if I’m well focused, and if nothing comes in the way of my writing. While I was writing Once Upon A Genie, I stopped in between, because I was diagnosed with Cancer so this book took a total of two years to complete.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?

I deeply love writing, it’s a stress buster for me and I am sure it is the best thing I can do. I don’t think about it as a career because I am only into following my passion.

What does your family think of your writing?

They are always supportive and proud of my writing.

    Which writers inspire you?
There are many to mention, however Khaleed Hosseini is one of them.

    So, what have you written?

Once Upon a Genie a fantasy/romance fiction. The story revolves around three main characters, the sexy genie, Daisy and her best friend Darren. It’s not the cliché type story of three wishes. It has a very unique concept. This story will take you to the journey of love, friendship and exhilarating three wishes, where you’ll also visit the unseen world of jinns and travel around the world. There are a lot of twists and turns in the book.

Where can we buy or see them?

Give us an insight into your book

Daisy had no idea what was in store for her when she uncovered the priceless reward concealed in a miscellaneous bottle; a super sexy genie that would pull the rugs below her feet.
Khalil Muwahid, the genie owed Daisy his gratitude for freeing him from the trap. He generously asked her for three wishes without holding any grudges against her. Gradually there was a strong connection between them, the bond of love.
Also, the rules of Djinn world were amended for their love, where Daisy wasn’t supposed to ask for the third wish since they could be together, everlastingly.
BUT on the horns of Dilemma, Darren, Daisy’s best friend’s life was at threat. Does she use the last wish to save Darren? Or does she save her love?

What is the hardest thing about writing?

A writer’s block is something I found the most hard to deal with.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Write because you love writing, don’t write for fame and money, good content will give you that. Never give up on your dreams.

How can readers discover more about you and you work?

They can follow me on facebook.com/durriyakapasi for more updates. I’m very much active on facebook.
