    Interview With Shilpi
    Author of “Hangover”

Shilpi Signodia is an MBA turned homemaker turned author who writes short stories, and write-ups for magazines and academic projects. She speaks more through writing than she does verbally. Despite being a trained management professional, she opted to being a full-time mother because she enjoys spending time with her children. Shilpi has always been inspired by fiction and has always wanted to deliver one.

Let’s put some questions to her, so that we can know much about her.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I belong to a business family, but not the orthodox types. I was given ample exposure during my childhood, and same goes with my in-laws. I did my MBA from GITAM Vizag, and so this pace is also the part of Hangover. I worked for sometime before marriage, but later I myself opted to work from home. I wanted to spend my time with my son. I love to be around my kids.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I think this was there from the very beginning, but professionally I started writing in 2008 when my first article got published in Woman’s era. Then it turned to be my profession. I wrote many academic and non academic projects for different companies.

What have you written? Give us an insight into your book

“Hangover”. It is a love story, which does not have any ending. I feel that true love stories never end. They are born to be remembered forever like Romeo Juliet, Heer Ranjha etc and Sneha-Vikrant.

What made you write this story?

Good question.. I wrote this because I feel that not all love affairs, especially in India, reach to their destiny, and what happens when they are being suppressed due to pressures of society… Hangover is all about that. Its about the first and true love of Sneha, but in a very positive way.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?

My ambitions, never thought so ambitiously till now. I write, because writing gives me immense satisfaction. I express  myself better, when I write.

What does your family think of your writing?

They are happy. Everybody are busy with their work, and me in my laptop. My kids are very proud that their mom wrote a book. But I would say that being a part of a joint family is a great support system.

    Which writers inspire you? Why?

Paulo Coelho, I like his writing style and in particular Alchemist.

    “Hangover” is available at?

At present it is available for pre booking at Amazon, but after 9th April, you can find it at all the leading bookstores and e-commerce websites.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

To Start.. I feel, to start a book is the most difficult part, but once it starts, it flows like breeze.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Be yourself. Don’t write to sell, but write to satisfy yourself. If you are satisfied then definitely it will sell.
