Jisha Rajesh is a doctor by profession and a writer by passion. Along with having a Postgraduate Degree in Medicine she has done a Diploma in Creative Writing In English from IGNOU. She is a winner of various Inter-collegiate literary competitions. She dreams of spreading the message of compassion, humanity and universal brotherhood through her stories.

Briefly describe your journey until now.
I was passionate about writing since my schooldays. The passion grew along with me and I went ahead to win various literary competitions in my college days. But I have never thought seriously about writing a full-fledged novel until now. It’s just the first step, I must say.
How did “The Ray of Asha” happen?
The neck breaking competition prevailing in the modern world has left me in utter bewilderment. The never- ending desire to achieve success and material pleasures has filled our lives with stress, anxiety and despair. This scenario gave rise an urge within me to spread the light of hope, faith and determination to those groping in the darkness of dejection. And that made me pen down – The Ray of Asha – a story about the power of hope.
Any particular writer whom you admire the most.
Well! The list is a bit long – Shakespeare, Leo Tolstoy, Rabindranath Tagore, Sarojini Naidu, Munshi Premchand – I have read and admire them all.
Traditional or Self Publishing?
Both has their own pros and cons. Moreover, the chances of getting your book traditionally published are rather slim now – a- days as author’s public profile is given more importance than the content of his manuscript. As an author who believes in her talent, I prefer self publishing because it gives me the freedom to tell my story the way I wish.

What is different about your book?
It makes an attempt to redefine success. Generally, one’s success is assessed using the parameters of wealth and achievements that one has to his credit. But this story conveys the message that success is all about fulfilling your dreams and nothing else matters much.
What is most fulfilling part of writing this book? And what is the most challenging?
The part that I loved writing is the love story of protagonist Jai and his lady love Asha. These days when hook ups and break ups happen in a split second, their love is unique owing to its purity, innocence and selflessness. The most challenging part was to strike a right balance between various characters in the story and the various emotions that they portray.
What is the next book that you have planned?
It’s a suspense thriller about two entirely different shades of the protagonist’s personality.
